Internal tool - paper sharing

Scenario:

Part of the job for research time is to read papers and keep informed of the latest progress. I think the team did great on that. Papers are shared in the slack channel frequently.

Issues:

Not sure how many people are actually reading the paper, no follow-up about the paper sharing, or records on that, or the status on tracking the comments/discussion, hard to track the paper when it is needed/discussed

The highlighted features that the tool should have:

  • as easy as sending a message to slack (maybe could be an APP to auto-transfer to structured data and put into the database)

  • support tag

  • support search for the keywords

  • tag auto-fill when entering

  • ranked by latest to oldest updated

  • support discussion area which people could talk or comments (with date/account name); people will also update the experiments based on the paper and the takeaways on that.

  • the backend database includes the fields as unique id, the paper name, potential id, GitHub id(potential), comments

Potential solutions:

  • a slack API?
