Always ask yourself questions

It is actually a trick I learned from a friend. He always encouraged me to solve the problem on my own, even in a card game.

Many situations are very similar. As long as we know which questions to solve in the situation, how to solve it, it will be easier for me to stick to the problem.

Do you think you explained it clearly?

It was quoted from a conversation I had with a very senior person when I just joined the team. I fixed an issue after much struggle and got super-excited. He noticed that and checked the status. I pointed to the screen, and yelled that see, it works!! He said, do you think you explained it clearly.

There will be many interactive sessions with other people, presentations/abstract/patent, etc. It is a very important skillset to explain what you did in a simple and clear way.

A good way would be:

  • list all the questions that we planed to answer

  • answer them with the materials and pause at the end of each question

  • prepare answers for the potential questions
